The Ganesh Chaturthi Festival was First Stated in Pune Initially and it was spread to different states in India.This festival was started during reign of Chatrapathi Shivaji.Lord Ganesha is son of Shiva and Parvathi Devi.Lord Ganesha will be having a head of Elephant and this has a history.One day Parvathi Devi said to Ganesha not to allow anyone into her room until she comes out, at that time Lord Shiva tried to enter into the room but Lord Ganesha noticed him not to enter into his mother room Lord Ganesha don't no Shiva is his Father.At that time a long clash will go on between them and Ganesha will not allow him into room,Shiva got angry and cut down his sons head.After some time Parvathi came out and she was angry on Lord Shiva for cutting his sons head then Shiva called his followers and gave a call to bring head those who has a habbit of facing their head on left side while sleeping then the followers caught an Elephant sleeping on left side and they cut down head of the elephant and replaced Ganesha's head with elephant head.
